I was out of control. I had watched myself gain weight steadily for years. I had gotten so heavy that many scales couldn't weigh me anymore. Then I had the shock of my life, after not stepping on a scale for a couple years, I finally found one that would weigh me. I nearly cried when I read that I weighed 465 pounds. I decided enough was enough and attended the next seminar that I could get into. Dr Dyer was the speaker, and by the time he was thru speaking I made up my mind that i was going to have the Vertical Sleeve, and doctor Dyer would be my surgeon. It was the best decision I ever made. I was put on a preop diet, and scheduled for surgery. I lost 28 pounds on the pre op diet. It wasn't easy, but it worked. I can't say enough about how well the whole staff at Centenial treated me. They showed me true compassion, and were complete professionals. I had my one week check up, and I have lost an additional 13 pounds! I no longer fear getting on scales, I look forward to it. If you are thinking about weight loss surgery, you have to understand that It is not the easy way out. It requires hard work and determination. However with the tools that the surgery and the follow up program gives, the hard work really gets amazingly fast results. Instead of only loosing a pound or two a week, with the preop and the postop diets, I have lost nearly two pounds a day! In less than a month, I already have less joint and muscle pain, and I am starting to need smaller clothes. I can't recommend Centennial and Dr. Dyer enough. i will always be grateful to them for helping me get back in control. - 41 pounds and counting! Just a quick update. I am now at 30 days since my surgery, and I am 46 days since the start of my pre-op diet. I have reached two big milestones. First, I have now lost 66 pounds which finally puts me under 400 pounds. Secondly, I am now able to walk a mile without any pain. A couple of hundred yards used to exhaust me. Now I am in control and taking my life back one pound and one step at a time. As of June 2nd, I'm down 101 pounds! 9/21/09 - This is a day that I have waited six months for. I now have lost 167 pounds, which puts my weight at 298! I cant believe that I weigh in the two hundreds rather than in the four hundreds. December 11th, 2009 - I am now down 200 pounds and will be walking up the ramps at the Titans game on Sunday!

I have lost 72 pounds since my surgery (8 months ago). I am no longer on any medication for high blood pressure, cholesterol, type II diabetes, and my sleep apnea has gone away too (no CPAP)! Dr. Dyer and his staff have been wonderful and I have absolutely no regrets about having the surgery. I would do it again and recommend the surgery for those who truly need it. The surgery has been a blessing and has made a tremendous difference in my life in just eight months!

I'm a patient of Dr. Dyer's. I had my gastric bypass on June 24, 2009. I have had nothing but good things to note about both Dr. Dyer and his staff. The hospital and staff was wonderful. I felt great and back to my old self in about a week. I have lost 57 pounds so far and am still losing about an average of 2 pounds a week. I look forward to going back to Dr. Dyer's office each visit just to get the official weight loss. I can't say how helpful and courteous the whole staff is and the support groups are very informative. I would recommend this group to anyone thinking about this type of surgery. I just wish I had the sense to have done it ten years ago. I would not have had all the health problems I USE to have. I no longer use my CPap machine, I no longer need to wear my incontinence pads, and I no longer need my acid reflux medications. I feel SO MUCH BETTER, healthier, and am loving exercising. Thank you so much Dr. Dyer and your staff. Addendum:It has been five months now from my operation and I feel like a new woman. I have gone from a size 22 to a size 14. I have lost a total of 54 1/2 inches and 75 pounds. I only have 35 more pounds to lose. I'm walking 3 miles a day 5 days a week and loving it. This has been a life changing experience and I would recommend Dr. Dyer or anyone on his team to help you add years to your life!

I am 5'2" and weighed 196 pounds [size 18 clothes]. The weightstarted to come off as soon as the band was placed & before a fill. In Nov. 2008 he removed the fill completely and I still remain at 116 [size 4-6 clothes] pounds after going through every holiday. Wish I had this surgery many years ago, if they had it then. I would have avoided breast reduction surgery as well as other problems. Dr. Olsen is the best, caring doctor ever. Thank you Dr. Olsen!

I am about 6' and weighed over about 350 pounds. Seven months after the surgery I weighed 175 and still do today. Went from size 48 pants to size 34-36. It eliminated years of severe night sweats and the loudest snoring problem one can imagine. Thank you Dr. Olsen!

I feel that the gastric bypass was the best choice for me. I have had a problem with my weight all of my life. When I got on the scales and it said 355lbs I new it was time for me to do something drastic. I have leg parthesis in the left hip so I was in a lot of pain all the time. When I had my surgery I weighed 307lbs and I have lost 41lbs since surgery. I am now able to walk more than a few steps before I have to set down due to the pain in my hip and back. I am very thankful to Dr. Houston and Holly and the rest of the staff also in his office. They are always very polite and Friendly and they make you feel like you are family. Thank You all for giving me back my life.

The old cliché “Had I known then, what I know now” fits my situation perfectly. For me, the very mention of surgery meant I needed an operation to save my life so imagine my reaction when my cardiologist suggested I consider weight loss surgery. I never will nor do I want to forget that day in November 2007 when he shared my tests results and the reasons for recommending weight loss surgery. I had just been given a double dose of REALITY! I knew God had answered my prayers when I met Dr. Olsen and the staff at the Centennial Bariatric Center for the Treatment of Obesity. I had done my research and was ready to begin the lifelong changing process. At the conclusion of my first consultation with Dr. Olsen, I knew God had led me to the right team. Dr. Olsen not only had impressive credentials but demonstrated the utmost professionalism in his handling of my case and yet at the same time he displayed a level of empathy that gave me a great sense of reassurance. Without both of these elements, I do not believe I could have continued on this journey. As the old cliché implies, looking back from where I was and seeing where I am now I know without a doubt I made the right decision both in respect to having the surgery and picking the right team.

My Centennial experience has produced a very positive change in my life. My diabetes is gone. My most recent A1C (long-term blood glucose level) is 5.6 (NORMAL) with no diabetes meds since I left the hospital. After 14 weeks, I have lost 70 pounds and am able to exercise up to 1-1/2 hour at a time without pain! I fully expect to continue to lose weight until I reach my goal and will take full advantage of the many tools provided by the Centennial experience. I think Dr. Olsen is a fine surgeon and a caring individual. He can be a tough taskmaster but I believe his toughness is a result of his concern for the wellbeing of his patients. I feel extremely fortunate to have been referred to Centennial and Dr. Olsen for my weight loss procedure.

On September 21, 2009 I started my journey to a healthier life. I've struggled back and forth for about 7 years with my weight. I like many others have tried numerous diets, with no luck. I chose to have gasteric bypass, which was the best decision for me. I will be the first to say this is not a quick or easy fix. However, the rewards are amazing. At 38 years old I struggled with knee pain, hip pain, and other pains that I couldn't really explain. I just didn't feel good. One week after my surgery I started feeling like a completely different person. The aches and pains are gone. It's so hard to explain how amazing the difference is. I do not have one single regret for having this surgery. I had my surgery 8 weeks ago and have already lost 40lbs and I'm still losing. Dr. Olsen, his staff, and everyone at Centennial Hospital are wonderful. What are you waiting for? Start your journey today, you won't regret it......

I had longed prayed for a solution to my weight problem and the diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and joint pain that it had caused. After attending seminars for other programs over a two year period, I attended a seminar conducted by Dr. Dyer and I realized that I had received my answer. I went on a 3-week liquid diet prior to surgery on October 5 and at my one month check-up on November 3, I had lost 51 lbs. Dr. Dyer is a very skilled surgeon, but more than that he is very caring and kind. He takes time to talk with you and your family and answer any questions that you have. I have felt totally secure in his care. Robin and Joanne in his office could not have been more kind and helpful to me. My experience at Centennial Women's Hospital was beyond excellent. The nurses were great and very helpful and reassuring. I have spoken with the dietician, exercise person, and I've attended the psychologist led support groups. All of the support offered at the Center for Obesity help so much. I am so thankful to have had my gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Dyer and Centennial. I feel like it is the best program!
